Michaela Cisarikova

 

Originally from Slovakia, London-based Dace Artist Michaela is the founder & artistic director of MCDC as well as a dancer, performer, choreographer and teacher, who works internationally.

She currently works regularly with Gems performing Arts School, Dance Focus and New London Performing Arts Centre. In 2019 Michaela joined Canterbury Christ Church University as a sessional teacher for the Dance Education Degree, delivered a masterclass for Studio Wayne McGregor and Pro - classes at Trip Space and The Longfield Hall in London. 

Last year Michaela shared her practise with The Joffrey Ballet and the trainee programme in Chicago as well as Tanecno - Dance Festival in Slovakia,  Abundance International Dance Festival in Sweden and many others in school settings and youth companies. 

 

Michaela is a physical theatre and dance practitioner. In 2012, she achieved a first class BA (HONS) Degree in Dance Education at Canterbury Christ Church University, where she began to train and develop as a contemporary dancer. Michaela went on to achieve the Jasmin Vardimon PGCertificate in physical theatre; where the combination of character, narrative and physical theatre methods matched so well her own interests.

 

Michaela is experienced in different styles of dance from Ballet, Jazz through African, South Asian dance into Hip Hop, Popping, Locking, House and Breaking. She focuses on Contemporary and Hip-Hop Styles where she finds strength, passion and space for expanding and exploring new possibilities, allowing her to understand and blend all the techniques and practises seamlessly. 

Michaela regularly provides dance classes, workshops and masterclasses  for a wide variety of participants, of different ages and stages and has developed, produced & curated many youth projects across the globe. 

Michaela is passionate about embracing individuality and supports creativity and experimentation within all techniques, styles & projects.
